December 22, 1915 was a special day in Tunnel Springs, Alabama, for it was the day Mary Lee Lett was born to the proud parents Anthony and Luella Fountain. She was the first born of eleven children.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Tunnel Springs, Alabama. Mary Lett was married to the late Ed Lett. This union was blessed with three children, Roosevelt, Curtis, and Arzella. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, and two sons, Roosevelt and Curtis Lett.
She and her family relocated to Pensacola, Florida in the early 1940’s. She was a housewife and homemaker. She was a woman of great faith, who was extremely cautious. She loved her family and had a fondness for children. She was a funny character who had plenty of sayings. Psalms 35:1 was her favorite scripture and mantra. God blessed her to live to be 95 years old. She left us a great legacy: Her laughter, love, and being laid-back.
On Friday, October 28, 2011, Mary Lee was called from labor to reward while surrounded by family. Her present survivors include her daughter, Arzella Lett Griffin, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, her two youngest siblings, Earnest (Eddie) Fountain and Carrie Jones; a sister-in-law, Madeline Fountain, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who loved her. We will forever cherish her in our hearts and minds.
